In honor of Black History Month, Antioch Christian Academy salutes educator Shirley R. Shaw!

Mrs. Shaw is the principal at Antioch Christian Academy and teaches 6th grade math.

Mrs. Shaw holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Science Education from Tennessee State University and a Master of Arts degree in Education from Sangamon State University (now the University of Illinois at Springfield). mahogany prom dresses

Accomplishments include (but not limited to):

Two years as Dean of Students at Lakeview High School

Awarded Outstanding Administrator from Decatur Public Schools

Taught high school algebra, geometry and basic math at Stephen Decatur High School

Served 10 years as assistant principal at Thomas Jefferson Middle School

Served 10 years as principal at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.

Mrs. Shaw is a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and serves on the education ministry, wedding ministry, special event ministry and also church clerk.

Mrs. Shaw is an outstanding educator and works relentlessly to improve achievement by focusing on quality instruction.
